LUNCH, MILK AND FRUIT
School lunches are cooked on our premises offering 3 choices every day of:
RED BAND – Meat/Fish (served with pasta, rice or potatoes and vegetables or salad)
GREEN BAND – Vegetarian (served with pasta, rice or potatoes and vegetables or salad)
YELLOW BAND – Sandwich (served with pasta, rice or potatoes and vegetables or salad)
These are offered on a 3 week menu cycle. Please see the link on the right for the current menu. Bread, yoghurt and fruit are also available every day at lunch time. Please speak to the office staff about the procedure to follow if your child has allergies or a special diet. In some cases you will be asked to provide your child with a packed lunch until the procedures are in place. Please discuss the menu choices with your child. Parents of children in EYFS are asked to indicate their choices on a form which must be returned to school every Friday.
Dinner Money: Meals are free for children in Reception, Years 1 & 2. They cost £2.30 per day for children in Years 3, 4, 5 & 6. Please pay in advance at the beginning of each half term by cheque or cash (exact amount only please). Cheques should be payable to “Herts Catering Ltd” and put into an envelope with your child’s name, their class, how much is in the envelope and what it is for. Alternatively you can pay by credit card using the SchoolGateway (see link on the right).
Packed Lunch: Children may alternatively bring a healthy packed lunch. Please ensure packed lunches DO NOT contain peanut butter sandwiches or nuts of any kind as we have children in the school with severe allergies to these foods. Fizzy drinks and chocolates are also not allowed.
Allergies – HCL already cater for children with a number of medical dietary needs across the county, but in order to provide for new children with medical allergies and intolerances, they need to undertake two important procedures before feeding your child. Firstly you will need to get documentation from a medical professional outlining the extent of the allergy or intolerance, and the possible consequences of your child consuming food which may cause an adverse reaction. Once you have this information, you will need to complete an on-line application – click HERE to access (https://hertscatering.co.uk/allergy-menu-application/). You will be required to scan in a copy of the medical letter and a picture of your child. Please note that this procedure will have to take place before HCL will provide your child with a school meal.
Halal – HCL provide one halal meal a week on a Wednesday. This option is only available to children who for religious reasons require a halal meal. It is not offered as an alternative to the standard menu.
Milk is available to all children in KS1 (infants). Please pay in advance BEFORE the beginning of term (link to form on right). Free milk is available for children who are under 5 for the whole of the current term. Please see the link on the right for up to date milk prices.
Children in KS1 are offered a free piece of fruit everyday. KS2 children may bring in a piece of fruit/vegetable/plain cracker ONLY from home or purchase fruit/healthy snacks from the school mid-morning break service. Please see the link on the right for the latest form and prices.
