ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
“Garden Fields School is a happy, inspiring and caring community which respects and values everyone – empowering lifelong learning”
Hello, my name is Mr Farrugia. I am the Head Teacher at Garden Fields. Welcome to our school. To date we have been a two form entry JMI (Junior Mixed Infant) School for children in Reception to Year 6. From September 2015 we have seen the gradual expansion to a three form entry school; starting with children joining our Reception classes in 2015 and by 2021 the school will be three forms entry to Year 6 (maximum of 630 children).
Garden Fields School was opened in 1896 in Catherine Street in St Albans town centre and later moved to its current location in the 1970’s. We are situated in the north-west of St Albans less than a mile from the city centre. We are very lucky to be situated in attractive and spacious grounds with five playgrounds (each with engaging play equipment), a large field, and a wonderful Forest School (nature) area that also accommodates an imposing Theatre.
April 2016 saw the opening of the new Upper School (Year 4 – Year 6) in what previously was the St Albans Music School, the new accommodation includes nine Classrooms, a large Breakout Space, refurbished Hall and a brand new Learning Resource Centre.
Please take time to look at our interactive website. It is intended to give you an overview of the vision and ethos of the school through a variety of content and information which is supplemented by our outstanding blogs (having a window in to the daily activities of the school).
On the right are some links to give you an introduction to the school. Should you have any further queries, please telephone, email or just book a visit to the school – you will be most welcome. If visiting the school always follow the signs to the new Front Entrance where you will see what Garden Fields means to the pupils.
Mr Andrew Farrugia
